Several CEOs of Boston's top academic medical centers and health systems recorded compensation of at least $1 million in 2011, following previous trends, according to a Boston Globe report.
Gary Gottlieb, CEO of Partners HealthCare System, tallied the highest total with $2.1 million, though that was down considerably from $3.1 million in 2010.
Peter Slavin, MD, CEO of Massachusetts General Hospital, and Elizabeth Nabel, MD, CEO of Brigham and Women's Hospital, made $1.7 million and $1.9 million, respectively, according to the report. Both Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's are part of Partners.
Paul Dorf, managing director of Compensation Resources, told the Boston Globe "it's very rare to see anything less than $1 million" for CEOs of large teaching hospitals and academic medical centers.
