This past February, Medscape fielded compensation survey responses from 24,216 U.S. physicians across 25 specialty areas and recently released its Physician Compensation Report: 2012 Results. It compiled the compensation data across several categories, including work setting, and the average salary of a hospital-employed physician across all specialties was $225,000 in 2011.
