About 44% of U.S. employees report feeling well compensated for their work, with roles in engineering and program management topping the list, according to LinkedIn's most recent Workforce Confidence survey.
The platform's market research team surveyed 15,669 U.S. professionals from June 15 to Sept. 20 to assess workers' satisfaction with pay.
Below are 10 job functions where workers exceeded the average for satisfaction with pay:
- Engineering — 54% feel well compensated for their work
- Program and project management — 54%
- Finance — 52%
- Research — 51%
- Quality assurance — 51%
- Human resources — 51%
- Business development — 51%
- Product management — 50%
- Consulting — 49%
- Information technology — 48%
LinkedIn noted that job function is just one of many factors that can inform pay satisfaction. Previous surveys have found that older workers are more satisfied with pay than younger employees. Remote and hybrid workers also tend to be happier with their pay than their on-site colleagues.
