The Department of Health and Human Services has announced a program to help veterans with medical experience or training pursue a degree in nursing.
The Veteran's Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program will provide up to $350,000 to accredited nursing schools to foster veteran enrollment and completion of baccalaureate nursing degrees. The program is expected to distribute $3 million by September. The program will also work with schools to award credit for military medical training or experience and provide mentorship and support services to enrolled veterans.
"The Veterans' Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program recognizes the skills, experience and sacrifices of our veterans, while helping to grow our nursing workforce," said HHS Sec. Kathleen Sebelius in the news release.
