HHS is moving ahead quickly on several key regulations for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that had been on hold until after the election, according to The Hill's Healthwatch report.
Since Nov. 6, HSS has submitted regulations to the Office of Management and Budget on essential health benefits, insurance regulations, wellness programs and quality initiatives.
According to the report, essential benefits — the 10 categories of procedures that health plans will have to cover under the PPACA — are a highly anticipated rule with major implications for states as well as the insurance industry.
Since the health law's future is now more assured, focus will now fall on states and the rule-making process. A new wave of regulations is expected to come soon, according to the report.
