CMS has announced it will increase the payment rate to inpatient rehabilitation facilities by 2.1 percent for fiscal year 2013.
The new rate includes a 2.7 percent inflation-adjusted increase minus a 0.7 percentage point reduction for productivity, as well as a 0.1 percentage point reduction called for in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Additionally, the final rate includes a 0.2 percentage point increase to take into account potential decreases in payments to outlier rehab facilities in urban areas.
