CMS has approved a plan under the Massachusetts Medicaid program that will provide up to $628 million to seven safety-net hospitals in the state to help them transform the way they delivery care to low-income residents, according to a Boston Globe report.
The safety-net funding was part of a larger, $27 billion agreement between CMS and the state government over the Medicaid program, which received preliminary approval in December.
The seven hospitals — Boston Medical Center, Cambridge Health Alliance, Holyoke Medical Center, Lawrence General Hospital, Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Signature Healthcare's Brockton Hospital and Steward's Carney Hospital in Dorchester — must submit a proposal to CMS on how they plan to use the funds, according to the report.
