Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health, formerly known as North Shore-LIJ Health System, and Newport Health Solutions have formed a new company called Health Connect Technologies.
Here are three things to know about the Health Connect Technologies.
1. Through Health Connect Technologies, Northwell Health and Newport Health, an IT and consulting company, will further develop and commercialize Newport Health's population and network management platform, Health Connect. According to a news release, Health Connect allows participating providers to follow a patient's journey, provides a common platform for disparate organizations to monitor referrals and allows for better overall collaboration on patient care.
2. Health Connect was piloted at Northwell Health's Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Now, Health Connect Technologies will develop Health Connect and implement the platform at other hospitals within the Northwell Health network and in third-party hospitals.
3. Sophia Teng, CEO of Newport Health, expressed excitement about the partnership. "The partnership will provide significant synergies to take Health Connect to the next level," she said in a news release. "Our approach to innovation is to build a product that truly addresses an unmet need by its target customers, a product that people want to use. Our collaboration with Northwell's clinical and administrative leaders has generated solid proven results that HCT will build upon. It is our intent to use our collective strengths to accelerate the growth of Health Connect in the region and across the nation."
