UK King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., has been forced to delay and cancel some surgical procedures over the past several months.
The care disruption stems from new surgical equipment installation issues and has affected some elective procedures, according to an Aug. 7 statement released on the hospital's Facebook page.
UK King's Daughters has been able to move some procedures to the health system's medical center in Portsmouth, Ohio, and is also working with Lexington, Ky.-based UK HealthCare to transfer patient care to other area hospitals when necessary.
Most urgent or emergent surgical procedures at the medical center have not been affected, the statement said.
A public relations representative from UK told Becker's the medical center expects to provide an update on the situation next week.
