Orlando-based AdventHealth has launched two population health initiatives that explore how various factors influence patients' health as well as patients' DNA.
Through the Lake Nona Life Project, AdventHealth will bi-annually survey patients to better understand their habits.
AdventHealth will use that data to identify participants who would be eligible for other target studies as well as health and wellness programs.
AdventHealth has also launched its WholeMe program a DNA study that is designed to give patients access to more information about their heart health. Around 10,000 Florida residents will have the opportunity to join the program, which provides free DNA tests to evaluate genes for a genetic heart condition, familial hypercholesterolemia.
From there, the health system will use the data to conduct genomic analysis alongside patients' health records.
To conduct the initiatives, AdventHealth has teamed up with LifeOmic to use the company's Precision Health Cloud. The cloud will allow researchers to overlay data reported from surveys with other data stored in the cloud, such as clinic, genomics, wearables and medical device data.
