Sumter, S.C.-based Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital is launching a heart valve clinic to treat aortic stenosis, mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation or tricuspid regurgitation, the health system said April 27.
The Sumter Valve Clinic is an extension of the hospital's advanced heart health center, which offers transcathetor aortic valve replacement and MitraClip procedures.
It will be led by Mazen Khalil, MD, interventional cardiologist at Prisma Health.
"We understand how valuable it is to receive treatment closer to home, and we are pleased to offer these services in a way that is more convenient and comfortable for our patients in this community," Dr. Khalil said. "The ability to evaluate and test patients for these specific diseases will help connect patients to treatment sooner."
