Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Health is consolidating its heart services into a new 31,000-square-foot facility, ABC affiliate WLKY reported Oct. 12.
The Norton Heart and Vascular Institute will include services in advanced heart failure, general cardiology, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart and vascular surgery. It will also house a dedicated chest pain clinic.
The institute features 40 exam rooms and multiple outpatient procedure rooms.
"If there's been anything that's been clear over the past five, ten years is our need to humanize, … to have those human interactions," Joseph Lash, MD, executive medical director at the institute, told the news outlet. "Now, having the opportunity to say, 'hey, wait a minute, I need to talk to one of my colleagues. Let me walk down the hall just a minute and drag him in here, and we'll have a quick conversation' ... It facilitates all of those human interactions that go into healthcare."
The institute will officially open Oct. 17.
