NJ hospital names chief of advanced heart failure treatment, transplant

Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center, part of RWJBarnabas Health, has selected David Seth Feldman MD, PhD, as chief of advanced heart failure treatment and transplantation. 

Dr. Feldman's expertise lies in the molecular mechanisms of heart failure, cardiogenic shock and heart transplantation. He participated in research that facilitated the FDA's approval of some of the most important mechanical support devices in use today, according to a Nov. 1 news release. 

Dr. Feldman joins Newark Beth Israel from the University of Cincinnati, where he was the director of cardiovascular and critical care and the director of advanced myocardial and circulatory support. 

The heart transplant center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is among the top 15 in the nation and one of only 6 percent of centers nationwide that has performed more than 1,100 transplants.
