Mount Sinai Heart president honored with international cardiology award

Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, president of Mount Sinai Heart and physician-in-chief of the Mount Sinai Hospital, was honored with the World Heart Federation's Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024.

Dr. Fuster's contributions to cardiovascular medicine are "unparallelled," according to a May 28 New York City-based Mount Sinai news release. He built what is now known as Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital into a world-leading center for cardiovascular care and cardiac surgery. He also helped develop cardiovascular polypills.

Dr. Fuster has earned several awards through the decades for his research into cardiovascular diseases and their origins.
