Missouri cardiologist who treated patients into his 80s dies at 88

John Bentley, MD, a cardiologist who was known for his humanitarian efforts, died March 10 at 88, the Springfield News Leader reported.

Dr. Bentley served 35 years in private practice as a cardiologist and internist. He was the founding medical director of the Kitchen Clinic in Springfield, Mo., which served homeless and low-income people, and helped establish the Jordan Valley Community Health Center. 

Dr. Bentley continued to treat patients into his 80s, according to the report. He is survived by his wife, four children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
