Mayo Clinic to test AI-powered cardiac imaging

Mayo Clinic researchers in Rochester, Minn., will test AI-powered cardiac imaging technology from SandboxAQ.

The device, called CardiAQ, is a magnetocardiography imaging system. Magnetic sensors and AI allow physicians to detect abnormal heart rhythms and cardiac disease indicators, according to an Aug. 8 news release from SandboxAQ.

The device is mobile, noninvasive and contactless. It has the potential to "enable rapid and radiation-free visualization and assessment of the magnetic signals of the heart," the release said.

Mayo Clinic will conduct a clinical research study with CardiAQ between 2024 and 2025. UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco and Mount Sinai West in New York City have previously conducted clinical studies with CardiAQ, according to the release.
