Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health will consolidate all of its cardiac and vascular services under a new institute, established through a "transformational" gift.
The gift from the Bruce and Robbi Toll Foundation will establish the Bruce and Robbi Toll Heart and Vascular Institute at Jefferson. The institute will integrate the divisions of cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular medicine and vascular surgery, involving 300 cardiac practitioners and a vascular program that serves over 10,000 patients annually.
Jefferson said the institute's unified structure will enhance collaboration among care teams, streamline the patient experience, increase access to clinical trials and promote cross-disciplinary research and education.
"The Toll family's incredibly generous commitment will provide robust support for Jefferson's cardiac physicians, researchers, and staff, and will help advance important work on cardiovascular disease," said Jefferson CEO Joseph Cacchione, MD. "I'm deeply grateful to Bruce and Robbi for their decades of giving to Jefferson Abington Hospital, and for their investment in this key area of our strategic plan. The impact of their generosity will be felt across our region for generations to come."
The dollar value of the gift to establish the institute was not specified.
Bruce and Robbi Toll's previous support includes contributions to Jefferson's Toll Pavilion, the Asplundh Cancer Pavilion, the Abington hospice program, a nursing scholarship endowment, and more. Mr. Toll, co-founder of the homebuilding company Toll Brothers, has served as a trustee of Jefferson Abington Hospital for 41 years.
Jefferson is planning an event in recognition and celebration of the launch of the Toll Institute in the fall.
