Dr. Martha Gulati was named director of preventive cardiology, associate director of the Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiac Center and associate director of the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center in the Department of Cardiology at Los Angeles-based Smidt Heart Institute.
Dr. Gulati was recently named president of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology, a national organization focused on reducing heart disease, according to a Sept. 26 news release from Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai. She is also the principal investigator of the St. James Women Take Heart Project, a study that examines cardiac risk factors in women and sets standards for women’s fitness levels and heart health. Additionally, Dr. Gulati is a co-investigator on the Women’s Ischemia Syndrome Evaluation.
She has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles in journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation and Journal of the American Medical Association.
