Connecticut hospital names cardiac surgery chief

Nuvance Health has named Richard Kaplon, MD, chief of cardiac surgery at Danbury (Conn.) Hospital, the health system said June 28.

Dr. Kaplon is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with more than 20 years of practice experience. He most recently served as chair of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery at Dignity Health's Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.

He also previously served as director of the artificial heart program and medical director of perfusion services at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

Nuvance is a seven-hospital system with locations in New York and Connecticut.
