Los Angeles-based Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai opened an Aortic Surveillance Clinic for patients with aortic disorders.
The clinic offers evaluation and long-term monitoring for patients with aortic aneurysms who may not need surgery and patients with certain genetic syndromes and other genetic disorders affecting the aorta and aortic valve. It treats the full spectrum of aortic disorders through a multidisciplinary team, according to a Dec. 18 hospital news release.
The program offers reassurance to patients that their condition will be closely monitored and that proper therapy, including surgery, will be offered if needed.
