Atlantic Health launches new cardio program for complex heart blockages

Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System is launching a cardiovascular program at Morristown Medical Center to treat severely clogged coronary arteries and other serious heart conditions, according to an Oct. 7 news release obtained by Becker's.

Led by Dimitrios Karmpaliotis, MD, and Amirali Masoumi, MD, the Cardiovascular Rescue and Recovery Program will provide treatment for patients in need of complex percutaneous coronary intervention due to severe, total or multiple difficult-to-treat blockages of the coronary arteries.

The program will also expand support capabilities for patients gravely ill with acute cardiac problems, including coordinated, multidisciplinary care such as mechanical support, PCI and surgical revascularization.

The medical center will further support the program by expanding its advanced medical imaging tools and clinical trials for complicated heart conditions.
