The American Heart Association has selected Ashutosh Jadhav, MD, PhD, to serve as editor-in-chief of its newly launched journal.
Dr. Jadhav, a vascular and interventional neurologist at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, will oversee Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology, according to an Aug. 31 announcement.
He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has served in editing positions across several other journals, including as associate director of the Journal of Neuro-Interventional Neurosurgery. Most recently, Dr. Jadhav was the section editor for interventional treatments of the American Heart Association's Stroke journal.
The newly launched open access journal will focus on "reporting clinical, translational and basic sciences research on interventional, endovascular, medical and surgical management of stroke and vascular disease of the brain, spinal cord, and head and neck."
It will be published bi-monthly and is online only. The journal is currently accepting manuscripts for the first issue set for November.
"I am excited to be at the helm of this new journal at a time when the field of vascular and interventional neurology is growing exponentially with innovations in new procedures and treatments," Dr. Jadhav said. "My vision for this journal is to be the premier destination for the latest, state-of-the-art research studies and an important platform for researchers and clinicians to share their findings focused on vascular care."
The journal is jointly published by the AHA, American Stroke Association and the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
