AHA launches first telehealth certification for physicians

The American Heart Association launched its first individual certification for telehealth, it said in a July 5 news release.

The Certified Professional by the American Heart Association-Telehealth certification is available through the association's education hub. The certification aims to standardize training for telehealth care delivery, increase skills and improve patient outcomes through the integration of telehealth. The three-year certificate is open to licensed medical professionals and features evidence-based online telehealth education that combines research, hands-on experience and best practices.

Telehealth utilization has leveled out at 38 times higher than before the pandemic, according to the release. It's estimated that 20 percent of all Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers spending could shift to virtual care.
