Research and consulting firms KS&R and EMI have published a survey of 429 board-certified, practicing cardiologists, highlighting the challenges cardiologists said they are facing with patient care.
Cardiologists said the biggest challenges affecting patient care were:
- Patient lifestyle (62%)
- Patient compliance (43%)
- High insurance costs for patients (41%)
- Increasing practice costs (36%)
- Lower reimbursements (28%)
- Patient medication reluctance (22%)
When asked what would make caring for patients easier, cardiologists said:
- Lower costs for patients (32%)
- Easier insurance handling for physicians (28%)
- Practice efficiencies such as less administrative work (25%)
- Patient education and treatment compliance (22%)
- More time for patient care (17%)
- Increased staffing (17%)
