Four New York-based Northwell Health hospitals received top ratings for cardiothoracic surgery specialties from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
The society's cardiac and thoracic reports collected data from 964 and 293 participants, respectively, between January 2021 and December 2023. Participating programs were rated on a range of one to three stars.
Manhasset-based Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital, Bay Shore-based South Shore University Hospital, Staten Island (N.Y.) University Hospital and New York City-based Lenox Hill Hospital received three-star quality ratings for isolated coronated artery bypass graft surgery, placing them in the top 23% nationwide.
Sandra Atlas Bass also received three stars for isolated aortic valve replacement, isolated mitral valve replacement/repair and CABG and AVR surgery.
South Shore also received three stars for CABG and AVR surgery.
Lenox Hill received three stars for isolated MV replacement/repair.
