The American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine has appointed the final five members to its 15-member board of directors.
The new at-large directors are Kathryn Berlacher, MD, Renee Bullock-Palmer, MD, Esther Kim, MD, William Roach Jr., and Karen Stout, MD. Their appointment was shared by the American College of Cardiology on July 11.
Pending approval from the American Board of Medical Specialties, the ABCM will oversee bylaws, committees, as well as implementing policies and procedures for cardiovascular professionals.
The ABMS implemented a 90-day open-comment period to gauge support for the new board, Becker's reported earlier this year.
The American College of Cardiology, Heart Failure Society of America, Heart Rhythm Society, and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions began the process of creating the ABCM last September, citing the need for a cardiology specific group separate from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
