Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System will start construction on a roughly $80 million WellStar Cherokee Health Park facility in late summer 2017.
Health parks act as a one-stop-shop for outpatient and physician services that combine treatment in one facility, according to a WellStar release.
The two-phase project will take place on a 60-acre site in Holly Springs, Ga., with 85,000 square feet of space constructed in the first phase. The $39.6 million first phase will include physician offices, medical imaging, urgent care, a sleep center, cardiac diagnostics, lab outreach and physical therapy.
The Cherokee Health Park is based on WellStar's Acworth (Ga.) Health Park and East Cobb Health Park in Marietta, which have been operating for four and two years, respectively. WellStar is constructing a third health park in Vinings, Ga., which is set to open in 2017.
WellStar anticipates Cherokee Health Park will be completed in late 2018.
"As a nonprofit, we are committed to improving the access to convenient, affordable healthcare, close to home," Candice Saunders, president and CEO of WellStar Health System, said in a prepared statement. "The WellStar Cherokee Health Park represents our dedication to caring for the people of Cherokee County and providing world-class healthcare in the community."
