New York City-based Weill Cornell Medicine is expanding its footprint with additional medical practice space in Manhattan and a new residence dorm in the Upper East Side.
The academic medical center entered an expanded, 30-year lease for 10,000 additional square feet of space at its existing location in Midtown Manhattan, Weill Cornell said Oct. 30. The organization will now occupy nine floors in the building and have a separate lobby entrance for patients. The new space will be renovated to house clinical practices that are slated to open in fall 2025.
Earlier this month, Weill Cornell also announced plans to build a $260 million residence hall at its Upper East Side campus. The 16-story, 173,000-square-foot facility will include 163 studios, seven one-bedroom units and 51 two-bedroom apartments. In total, the residence hall will house 272 graduate and medical students.
Weill Cornell donors have contributed $122 million to support the expansion project, according to an Oct. 17 news release. The building is slated to open in 2025.
