Bon Secours held a ceremonial wall breaking Oct. 20 for its $48.5 million, 48,000-square-foot expansion of Mechanicsville, Va.-based Memorial Regional Medical Center.
The expansion increases capacity by 44 beds, including a new 11-bed intensive care unit and 33 medical-surgical beds, according to a Bon Secours news release.
It also features the creation of the West Pavilion with new inpatient units for orthopedics and neurosciences.
The West Pavilion will be completed in late 2022 while the rest of the renovations will be completed early 2023.
"We are thrilled to kick off this 44-bed expansion and renovation at Memorial Regional which has been many years in the making. This is a major milestone in our pursuit to better meet the growing needs of the community in Hanover County," said Leigh Sewell, hospital president. "We look forward to opening the West Pavilion and continuing to provide quality, compassionate care for this community well into the future."
