Torrance (Calif.) Memorial Medical Center will open its $40 million Pat and Ellen Theodora Pediatric and Young Adult Pavilion Oct. 30.
The pavilion, located on the third floor of the hospital's Donald and Priscilla Hunt Tower, houses 17 private rooms, a child care unit for sick children of employees or community members, and a playroom.
Eight beds in the unit are dedicated to Torrance Memorial's medical stabilization program, which offers services to young adults or teenagers with complications from severe eating disorders.
The unit was named after the family of Pat Theodora of Palos Verdes Estates, who donated $2.5 million to the project.
