Houston-based Texas Children's has unveiled its $485 million freestanding Texas Children's Hospital North Austin Campus.
The 365,000-square-foot campus opened its outpatient services Feb. 5, with inpatient services opening Feb. 20, according to a Feb. 1 Texas Children's news release shared with Becker's.
The five-floor hospital, which is connected to a 170,000-square-foot outpatient building, features 52 beds with neonatal, cardiovascular and pediatric intensive care units; operating rooms; full-service mother and children diagnostic services; and a sleep center.
The campus comprises a full-service emergency center, multiple transportation options like ambulances and a helicopter, and safe rooms for behavioral health cases.
More than 1,100 jobs, including experts across a range of specialties and 150 pediatric specialists will be added as a result of the new campus, according to the release.
A nonprofit healthcare organization, Texas Children's comprises Houston-based Texas Children's Duncan NRI; Houston-based Texas Children's Pavilion for Women; Houston-based Texas Children's Hospital West Campus; and Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands. It also features Texas Children's Pediatrics, which is the largest pediatric primary care network in the U.S., and multiple urgent care clinics.
