Providence Regional Medical Center Everett files plans for $32M expansion

Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Wash.) is seeking state approval to add 70 beds in a $32.2 million expansion, reports The Herald.

If the Washington State Department of Health approves the hospital's plan, the total bed count at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett would be 571. The majority of the added beds would be housed in the unoccupied ninth floor of medical center's tower and be installed in two stages.

The project marks the largest expansion for the hospital since it opened a 12-floor, $460 million medical tower in 2011, according to The Herald. A growing and aging population has increased the demand for expanded services.

Kim Williams, COO of Providence Health & Services, said Providence hopes to gain state approval for the project this summer. Pending approval, construction is expected to last nine to 12 months and begin later this year or in early 2018.
