Northwestern Medicine looks to expand Lake Forest location in $389M project

Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine, which operates 13 hospitals in Illinois, plans to expand facilities at its Lake Forest location at a cost of $389 million, according to a Dec. 20 report from the Chicago Tribune.

The project, planned for completion in 2028, would add 96 inpatient beds, including 12 intensive care unit beds, expanding the current facility by 290,000 square feet, according to an application submitted to the state's Health Facilities and Services Review Board.

The hospital, which opened in 2018, would also expand its emergency department, imaging equipment and inpatient rehabilitation services, the report said.
