Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest (Ill.) Hospital is planning an expansion to its facility and to its parking garage, a spokesperson told Becker's.
The plan was presented at a recent council meeting. The project will include 96 acute-care beds and a new parking garage with about 1,000 spaces, the Chicago Tribune reported Jan. 25.
Sixty-five percent of the campus will be green space, according to the spokesperson.
The decision to expand inpatient capacity is due to patient growth that was already occurring before the COVID-19 pandemic, the spokesperson said.
Construction on the parking lot may begin this year, and the new beds could be in place by 2025, the Tribune reported. It requires a certificate of need from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, but it was approved in 2016.
