Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona Healthcare seeks to build a new hospital complex in the city, the Navajo-Hopi Observer reported Oct. 25.
The facility would help with overcrowding at the health system's current facility, Flagstaff Medical Center. The hospital's size limits services, and patient rooms are too small for industry standards, according to the publication.
Designs for the campus would include a 160-foot hospital tower, multi-family housing, retail shops, restaurants, a hotel and a 22-acre nature retreat. The health system also wants to build employee housing.
Plans for construction will be submitted to the city's planning and zoning committee before the end of this year. If approved, the facility could wrap construction by 2027.
