North Bergen, N.J.-based Palisades Medical Center will expand its emergency room in a $35 million project, nj.com reported Sept. 21.
Population growth and higher patient volume led to the decision to expand.
"This will be transformational to our community and our team members working in the ER," a spokesperson for the hospital told the publication. "We recently partnered with a design firm to deliver plan drawings based on surveys our team members have weighed in on to provide the best care in a safe and efficient manner."
The hospital plans to expand its urology, endocrinology, pulmonology and nephrology at a medical office building adjacent to the facility. It is also forming more partnerships with physicians in the area.
Construction is slated to begin in 2024 or 2025.
