Nemours Children's Health, a system operating in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida, has received a $78 million donation from the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation of Wilmington, Del., to fund research programs and advance clinical care for cancer, sickle cell disease and other blood disorders.
In recognition of the donation, a new shell space at Nemours Children's Hospital in Wilmington will become an inpatient unit known as the "Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Institute for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Nemours Children’s Health."
The $78 million donation will go towards establishing an institute for cancer and blood disorders as well as an endowed chair for the institute and another for sickle cell disease.
"The new Moseley Foundation Institute will positively influence pediatric cancer and blood disorder care worldwide," Nemours Children's Health President and CEO R. Lawrence Moss, MD, said in a March 2 news release. "This gift will help us to provide better care and patient experience today, to conduct research that will improve tomorrow's care, and to take concrete actions to ensure every child receives optimal care regardless of race or economic circumstances."
