The Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter held an open house Wednesday to showcase two new buildings constructed through a $56 million expansion project, reported Mankato Free Press.
The psychiatric hospital offers rehabilitation and treatment programs for individuals designated as mentally ill and dangerous by the courts. The two new buildings will house low-security risk patients preparing to leave the hospitals.
The facilities contain 48 patients beds, sound proof rooms, windows without bars and recreational, dining and therapy areas.
The hospital hopes to raise funding to further update the hospital and increase staff members, according to the report.
