Mercyhealth gets OK to build 13-bed hospital after 14 years

Bolingbrook, Ill.-based Mercyhealth gained Illinois Health Facilities Planning and Review Board approval to build a 13-bed hospital and clinic in Crystal Lake, Ill.

The board approved the $79.5 million hospital in a 6-1 vote, and unanimously agreed on the $18.8 million clinic, according to Northwest Herald. This is Mercyhealth's third attempt to build a small hospital in Crystal Lake since 2003, according to the report.

The small hospital will house 24/7 emergency services on a new campus in Crystal Lake. It will include 11 medical-surgical beds and two intensive-care beds, an emergency room, two operating rooms, full-service radiology imaging, laboratory services and a pharmacy, the report states.

Mercyhealth will also build a clinic on the campus, condensing five physician practices in the Crystal Lake area. The clinic will house 42 exam rooms, Northwest Herald reports.
