Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic provided a timeline of "at least seven years" for a series of multibillion-dollar capital expansion projects expected to begin in 2024, the Star Tribune reported July 25.
The health system expects to submit finalized plans to its board of trustees by the end of the year. Mayo Clinic will also provide the city council with a five-year construction plan.
In May, the health system had considered pulling the plug on the capital expansion project due to two proposed bills in the Minnesota legislature relating to healthcare costs and nurse staffing.
The Rochester City Council appears to support the plan but did raise concerns about how the construction will affect traffic in the city.
