Marion General gets approval for $46M expansion

In an effort to improve services and attract new patients, OhioHealth's Marion General Hospital will embark on a $46 million, four-year master facilities expansion, according to The Marrow County Sentinel.

The expansion and renovation project, one of the largest investments made in the hospital's history, calls for the construction of a three-story addition that will house 44 private rooms, converting some existing double-capacity rooms to private ones and upgrading several areas on the medical campus.

"Continuing to expand our services and capabilities allows us to treat sicker patients in Marion," Bruce Hagen, president of OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, told the Sentinel. "We want to have the space and resources to provide and attract specialists like pulmonologists and offer access to critical care services close to home."

Construction is slated to begin this fall and end in 2022.
