A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place this weekend for a new five-story, $43.3 million tower at Ocoee, Fla.-based Health Central, according to the Orlando Business Journal.
The tower includes a first-floor emergency department and 40 new private patient rooms. It is adjacent to Health Central's existing 171-bed hospital, and expands the ED from 42 beds to 52 and increases the total number of hospital beds to 211, according to the report.
With the expansion, Health Central's ER can now accommodate up to 90,000 visits per year, up from the 60,000 annual visits the hospital currently takes care of.
Health Central began the multi-million expansion project in November 2014. It expects to begin admitting patients the week of July 11, according to the report.
