HCA opens one of several planned freestanding ERs in Florida

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare has opened an 11,000-square-foot freestanding emergency room affiliated with HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford, the Orlando Business Journal reported Sept. 13.

The emergency room facility includes 11 private rooms, an on-site laboratory and imaging technology such as X-ray, ultrasound and CT scans, according to the report. The facility is closest to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavaers, Fla., which is 2.8 miles away, according to the report.

"As the Lake County community expands, the need for 24/7 emergency care close to where people live and work is paramount," HCA Florida Lake Monroe CEO Trey Abshier said in a statement. "We are excited to establish a new health care location for all in need of emergency medical care."

HCA has more than 50 hospitals in Florida. In June, the system opened a freestanding ER in Haines City and has plans to open several more emergency facilities across the state.

HCA has emergency room facilities planned in areas including Orlando, Englewood, St. Cloud, Citrus Ridge and Maitland.
