Gilbert Family Foundation donates $10M to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia received a $10 million donation from the Gilbert Family Foundation to research a cure for neurofibromatosis type 1.

The grant will support research to find guidelines for the management of children with NF1, determine clinical and molecular risk factors for the development of NF1, and develop immunotherapies, according to an April 4 CHOP news release.

NF1 is a genetic disorder that can lead to skin changes, skeletal abnormalities and tumors. The disorder affects 1 in 3,000 people.
