Officials in Lee County, Ga., are seeking permission from the Georgia Department of Community Health to build a 60-bed hospital, reports WALB News 10.

- County leaders filed a certificate of need application with the community health department for the proposed hospital.
- The facility would sit on land provided by the county and offer both acute and emergency care services, according to the report.
- The county would rely on a for-profit hospital operator to run the hospital.
- County officials expect the hospital to provide nearly $6 million in uncompensated care in its first year and $12 million by the second year. The hospital would also create more than 350 jobs, according to the report.
- The Georgia Department of Community Health will take about four months to review the certificate of need application, according to the report. If approved, the county plans to break ground on the hospital this year.
