Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice has completed a $90 million emergency department expansion, opening its doors to patients Dec. 16, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.
The expansion added 30,000 square feet to the hospital's ED and increased the number of exam rooms from 28 to 61. The hospital also upgraded its imaging facilities, added four resuscitation suites and a third CT scanner to the ED.
The expansion is expected to help the hospital better meet community demand. Leaders identified the need for various expansion projects when the hospital reached full capacity shortly after opening in November 2021, according to the report. In April, the hospital also opened a five-story, $148.5M patient tower.
Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice is part of Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Health Care System.
