The University of Vermont Health Network Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y., received a bomb threat through the hospital's website and temporarily locked down Friday morning, according to a WPTZ report.
Plattsburgh City Police said they were working with the FBI, New York State Police and the Clinton County Sheriff's Department to investigate the threat.
During the 5-hour lockdown, the emergency room remained open while law enforcement investigated and posted officers outside. The hospital did not evacuate visitors, staff or the 216 patients registered, but asked non-essential visitors to leave. Surgeries took place as scheduled.
The lockdown was lifted Friday afternoon after law enforcement agencies searched the campus with a bomb-sniffing dog and found "no credible threat," according to a North Country Public Radio report.
