Morganton, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge recently received approval for its $195.5 million expansion project, according to The News Herald.
The project includes constructing a new facility on the existing Valdese (N.C) Campus for cancer treatment and outpatient services; building a new patient tower next to the hospital's Morgantown campus; and renovating the neonatal intensive care unit and inpatient rooms at the Morgantown campus. In addition, the health system's long-term care facilities will receive upgrades.
"It's been months and months of work with a lot of detail, data and thinking about what is best for the future of Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge," Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge President and CEO Kathy Bailey said, according to The News Herald. "There will be adjustments because healthcare needs, community needs and financial situations will change."
In total, the project is expected to take 10 years.
