Beacon Health sets timeline for $232M Indiana hospital renovation

South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon Health System's $232 million construction project for Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind. will be completed in March 2026.

The project includes a 10-story tower that will have seven new patient care floors and will renovate and expand the intensive care unit, as well as other areas in the hospital, Beacon said in an April 20 news release.

More than 50 patient beds will be added to the facility, and it will create 500 jobs. The hospital will have improved ventilation and negative pressure rooms.

"This is a transformational, once-in-a-generation project that will serve the growing healthcare needs of patients in our region for decades to come," Larry Tracy, president of Memorial Hospital, said in the news release. "Understanding how we play a critical role in serving the health needs of our community, we have spent thousands of hours examining how we will provide clinical care and improve our patient, family and staff experience in this facility."
