Milford, Del.-based Bayhealth Sussex received City Council approval for Post Acute Medical to construct an inpatient rehab facility on its campus, Milford Live reported Aug. 25.
The facility will be 74,000 square feet and will be under lease agreement with the hospital. Post Acute Medical currently operates 40 beds within the hospital. The new facility has potential to add eight to 10 beds.
"The purpose of this facility is to operate as a specialized inpatient rehab care facility," Anthony Lampasona, chief development officer for Catalyst Healthcare Real Estate, which owns Post Acute Medical, told the publication. "We meet the mission of the hospital to provide comprehensive health care services to the community and beyond. That’s been the mission of Bayhealth Sussex ever since it’s opened, and it has been outperforming initial projections for needed space and services within the four walls of the hospital."
